Loving you in absence..............

Absence is to love as wind is to fire; It extinguishes the small and kindles the great.

We met when we were 16, in April 2003 when we were holidaying in Pune. We got along well and enjoyed each other s company. We spent almost a month together then and those were the best days of my life. She had to go back and I had to come to boarding school back in Ooty. In school I couldn't speak or e-mail her much but it was then I realized I Love her. I wrote letters to her occasionally but didn t tell her till July 2003. When I did, she said a No. But I waited for her and showed her that I was there for her. In December 2003 during my vacations I was in Ooty at home, we chatted a lot and she finally said Yes.

It was another year in school. Twelfth standard. And there we were stuck again... didn't speak often and were still young to young for our parents to let us go ahead they wanted us to concentrate on our studies! As usual, I didn't listen and loved her. I did my graduation in Pune for 3 years and there were friends who did ask... "Dev, do you have a girl friend?" or other questions like... "Where is she? When did you meet?" I believe that friends can be a big cause of a couple to break off so I did tell them that she comes once in a while to meet me.

By now, we were speaking on the phone and chatting once in a while. I paid a huge phone bill during the 3 years of my graduation. Then came in our parents who didn't think we'd go ahead but were happy and accepted our relationship, which was going steady now. Like all lovelorn souls, we spoke long hours on phone and sent gifts to each other once in a while.

I am now in Manchester doing my Masters and we chat often and speak on the phone too, and are going strong since 4 years, though we haven't met since May 2003. I get remarks like "Dev, you must be crazy..." But we are going to meet and get married soon. She is my first and only Love. We have enjoyed a long distance relationship that has made us realize the value of each other.
